NHL '21 Holiday Cup - 2010s & Younger Rules

Overview: Online matches played from home against other competitors in the DraftDay community

Demographic: Tournament is open to everyone of all genders, ages, and skill-types.

Length: 1 hour (2 games) to 3hrs (6 games including finals)

Registration/ Game Mode: Individual and Standard Online Versus

Schedule: All matchups will start at 10am on the day of the tournament. You will be playing matches as soon as your opponent and bracket is updated. Schedule with opponents to be released the evening before the tournament and will be accessible on the platform.

Schedule breakdown:

  • 2 matches guarenteed
  • Double Elimination bracket


Playoff breakdown: Each match is a single elimination game. If tied after regulation, match goes to traditional extra-time. If tied after extra-time, match will restart and the first goal wins. If games end in a tie, overtime then shootout must be played to get winner.

RULES + LOGISTICS

  1. Forfeits and Rescheduling

Opponent No-Shows & Grace Period
If a team/player does not show up to a match at its scheduled time, there is a 10 minute GRACE PERIOD. If they remain unresponsive, wait 10 minutes and then contact your Tournament Mod. They will provide next steps for you.

A default win/loss of 1-0 will be applied should there be a player who misses their game.

    You are permitted to select any of the following types of teams:
    • NHL Team's - no other rosters

      Note: Both teams can play as the same team

BEFORE LEAGUE STARTS

  1. Notifications & Communication
    1. All communication once the tournament starts will be done on Discord. Please familiariaze yourself with the DraftDay platform and your applicable channels.

  2. Add opponents
    After your schedule is released, please add all your opponent’s Xbox gamertag’s so that there is no delay once the tournament starts.

GAMEDAY

  1. BEFORE MATCH
    Please aim to have your game setup 15 minutes prior to start-time. Standard online versus rules apply. No customizing of game settings.

  2. DURING MATCH
    Play your next scheduled opponent and communicate issues with your tournament Moderator. After each match, players are allowed to change the team they are using for their next game. We also encourage you to take a screenshot of the final scoreboard should there be disputes regarding final scores.

  3. AFTER MATCH
    Decide with your opponent in the game who will report the scores into the Players’ Lounge under the schedule section. The bracket will be updated live after results are submitted.
